It is with great mixed feelings that I relay this information to each of you. On February 26th your CVMLA Executive decided it was in the best interest of players and the community for the Caledon Bandits to cease all minor lacrosse operations in the Town of Caledon effective immediately, with exception.
The 2018 Spring U17 Field Team will continue on for the upcoming season as decided upon by the coaching staff and the Executive body. At the culmination of the Spring season no further Minor operations will be held.
While this decision was not an easy one, we feel that it represents the best available option for the Associations players, staff, volunteers, and administration to find a place to play this upcoming Lacrosse season.
Over the past several years the Caledon Bandits have struggled and in some cases been unable to field teams in a variety of age divisions culminating this season. We were facing a season with historical low registration numbers, lower than ever volunteer efforts, lack of coaches and bench staff and increased costs. As an executive over the previous 5 years we have continually promoted and driven the game of Lacrosse in our community. Despite increases in spending related to marketing, promotion, etc. these efforts have not correlated into increases in registration.
What do I do Now?
In the coming days all registration fees, tryout fees etc. will be refunded in the manner of which they were received.
Rest assured that the Executive in conjunction with the OMFLL, OLA and Zone 10 will be arranging the necessary information for each family. In the coming days you will receive an email from the executive indicating your next closest centre you will be expected to register there, and will become members of said Association. Every effort will be made to expedite this uneasy time, however we kindly ask that you await the information prior to requesting additional information.
Again, on behalf of Caledon Bandits Lacrosse we understand that this is shocking news, however understand that your executive weighed heavily the contributing factors which have led to this decision and we strongly feel that for the benefit of the players, and ancillary staff this represents the best possible decision.
